To Further Decrease Risk, Quantec Is Committed To Safety On Your Worksites
At Quantec, all field staff receive extensive training and participate in daily safety meetings. Making sure safety on your worksite is Top Priority is as important as leaving the environments in which we operate pristine.
5 Areas Of Worksite Health And Safety at Quantec
1. General Staff Training. World-travelled staff receive extensive training in all aspects of health and safety. Strict compliance with clients’ health and safety policies includes training in First Aid, survival and off-road vehicle operation for difficult and harsh conditions. Daily safety meetings ensure easy communication and collaboration between field technicians and Quantec’s Joint Health and Safety Committee led by a full time Health and Safety Coordinator.
2. Specific Staff Training and Orientation. Quantec staff complete WHMIS training, are prepared for Client Start-up Reviews, PPE requirements, and company orientation. They receive detailed on-site training relevant to their tasks as well as any additional client site-specific training. Project Teams have certified First Aid/CPR and Survival Training skills (1 day classroom + 2 days field & overnight exercises) and are trained in communications of radios, satellite phone, and emergency procedures. Our drivers have taken the Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) and ATV & Skidoo Certification for Nationally recognised multi-level training. Certain staff have received Chainsaw handling, Fall Protection, Mining Sector specific education as well as Fire Suppression training to MNR (Ontario) S-102 standard. Furthermore, experienced employees are paired to new recruits for learning role responsibilities.
3. Joint Health & Safety Committee. Certified members participate and conduct an annual review of Quantec’s Company Health and Safety Manual to determine training needs and necessary employee programs required for job tasks. Policies and procedures are reviewed, updated and distributed as needed.
4. Clear Project Site Inspections. To improve our employee jobsites, site-visits formally record positive and negative aspects for safer operations. Field Supervisors actively participate in reporting environment conditions and take necessary corrective action on safety concerns. Informal worksite inspections are conducted by all employees and discussed at daily safety meetings to convey issues.
5. Mandatory Items in the Field. Daily Safety Meetings (DSM) review the project, deployment locations, equipment layout, progress reporting, hot-topic issues/concerns and check employee condition to avoid injury. PPE checks, vehicle checks and communication protocols (for whereabouts, power on/off, field exiting or end-of-day) are completed.
