Roger Sharpe: General Manager and Senior Geophysicist
Based in Quantec’s Reno office, Roger is responsible for reporting, interpretation and client support. The focus is on ensuring data integrity, and delivering value to our clients by relating the geophysical programs and data to project geology and targeting goals. Roger joined Quantec in August of 2006. Prior to working at Quantec, Roger was a senior geophysicist at Multi-Phase Technologies, an environmental geophysical firm, and was chief geophysicist at Battle Mountain Gold. In addition to program planning, management, and data interpretation skills, Roger has experience in hardware and software manufacture and development.
Robert Hearst: Senior Geophysicist
Robert brings nearly 25 years of experience in the field of geophysics to Quantec, which he gained working across a broad range of settings in the industry. These include a mining company, private consultant, and various contracting consultancy groups. Most recently he was President of MPX Geophysics Ltd. Within his role at Quantec, Robert oversees the development and interpretation of Titan 24 surveys and also provides client support. Robert brings a wealth of experience managing projects in several different fields, and has written more than 15 technical publications over the course of his career.
Robert has a Bachelor of Science Degree, Geophysics and Geology, from the University of Western Ontario, and a Master of Science Degree, Geophysics and Geology, from McMaster University.
Benoit Tournerie: Senior Geophysicist
Benoît joined Quantec’s Toronto office in 2006, where he is responsible for the analysis and interpretation of Magnetottelluric (MT), DC and IP data. In addition to survey interpretation, Benoît contributed to the design and interpretation of Quantec’s Titan 3D system. Prior to joining Quantec, Benoît worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher and then as an Associate Researcher at École Polytechnique Montréal in Québec. Benoît has experience teaching at École Polytechnique Montréal, and has written several published articles. His research interest is in the application of magnetotelluric methods for resource exploration.
Benoît received a Doctorate in Earth Sciences from the University of Rennes 1, France.
Evelio Martinez: Senior Geophysicist
Evelio has 10 years of experience working in the geophysics industry, having taken part in more than 90 investigations and researches. He has extensive experience in interdisciplinary studies with applications of Geophysical and Geological methods to solve problems of General Geology, Hydrogeology, Soil and Rock Science, Geomorphology, Environmental Researches and Mineral Exploration. Evelio has experience executing surveys throughout Cuba and the adjacent keys as well as the Netherlands, Portugal, South Africa, Namibia and Canada.
Evelio has a B. Sc. Eng. (Geophysics) with a Post-Graduate Diploma in Surface Exploration Seismic as well as a M.Sc. degree in Exploration Geophysics.
Arre Verweerd: Senior Geophysicist
Arre spent the first part of his career as a Doctorate student of Applied Geophysics at Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms University in Germany. Relocating to Canada from the Netherlands, Arre was employed as a Geophysicist for JVX Ltd., where he gained experience in 3D Inversion (Magnetics &DC/IP), processing & interpretation of (borehole) DC/IP, magnetics, TDEM and EM. In 2007, Arre joined Quantec Geoscience and is currently the Senior Interpreter of the Titan-24 team, with responsibility for 2D & 3D inversions of DC/IP & MT, as well as interpretation and reporting. In addition to his geophysical experience, Arre is also fluent in Dutch, German and French.
Arre received a M.Sc. Degree from Utrecht University in the Netherlands.
Karl Kwan: Senior Geophysicist
Karl is a senior geophysical project manager at Quantec Geoscience. After completing his masters degree in geophysics at the University of Toronto in 1989, he has worked in companies offering geophysical consulting and airborne survey services. Although his main area of interest is the electromagnetic method in geophysics, he has extensive experience in other geophysical exploration areas, such as magnetics, gravity, radiometrics and electrical methods. He is also very interested in research and development in geophysical applications and has created a number of widgets and utilities for Geosoft’s Oasis Montaj that are widely used in geophysical community. His current interest lies in the understanding and improvement of 2D/3D inversion tools for DCIP and MT data. Karl is a member of KEGS.
Mehran Gharibi: Senior Geophysicist
Based in Quantec's head office, Mehran has been employed with Quantec since 2008 and has experience in mineral exploration using magnetotelluric, electrical resisitvity and IP methods. Before joining Quantec, Mehran was employed by the University of Calgary where he was both a Research Associate and Instructor.
