Why Does Seismic Struggle To Establish Heavy Oil Drill Targeting?

 

The difference between oil density and water density after SAGD injection is too close to get an accurate reading from seismic, which can only measure density difference. Instead, with the greatest accuracy in the industry, Quantec isolates oil from water with resistivity measurements (using magnetotelluric methods) helping you:

  1. Determine the underlying water strata to detail the interface between the water/bitumen mixtures.
  2. Identify thief zones so you can see which obstacles are preventing SAGD from working more efficiently.
