Our technical staff brings many years of valuable experience from the mining and exploration industries. Here is an introduction to some of our team members.
CanadaJean Marcel Legault: Senior Geophysicist & Technical Director, Interpretation Group
A professional geoscientist with more than 20 years in the mining exploration industry, Jean has been with Quantec for the past 15 years. During this time he has applied his skills in almost every type of exploration environment and has visited sites and interpreted data from five continents. His wealth of experience has resulted in an immensely strong geologic and technical background as well as a broad base in all geophysical methods.
Jean has a Master’s degree in magnetotelluric and induced polarization computer inversion modeling from the Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal (M.SC.A) and a Bachelors of Applied Science from Queens (B.A.Sc. Eng.).

Robert Hearst: Manager, Titan Interpretation Group
Robert brings nearly 25 years of experience in the field of geophysics to Quantec, which he gained working across a broad range of settings in the industry. These include a mining company, private consultant, and various contracting consultancy groups. Most recently he was President of MPX Geophysics Ltd. Within his role, Robert oversees the development and interpretation of Titan 24 surveys and also provides client support. Robert brings a wealth of experience managing projects in several different fields.
Robert has a Bachelor of Science Degree, Geophysics and Geology, from the University of Western Ontario, and a Master of Science Degree, Geophysics and Geology, from McMaster University.

Rob Gordon: Exploration Consultant
With over twenty years of exploration experience in a variety of roles, Rob has a thorough background in all aspects in geophysics. Prior to his current role spearheading sales for Titan 24 Deep Earth Imaging Technology, he spent eight years as manager of Canadian Operations with Quantec. Before joining the Quantec team, Rob built extensive experience in Airborne EM methods with Diaghem, where he was a senior project geophysicist and spent seven years as operations managers. During this time, he oversaw a number of significant exploration projects including Voisey’s Bay, Ekati Diamond Mine and a project in Ethiopia on behalf of the United Nations Development Program. He also spent one year respectively with Terraquest and Covello, Brian and Associates as a consultant
Robert has a B. Sc. Eng. (1985) as well as an M.BA (2002), from Queens and Western University respectively. He is a registered professional engineer in Ontario.

Sherwood (Woody) T. Coulson: Exploration Consultant
Sherwood, or Woody, Coulson has 30 years of experience in the field of geophysics. He was one of the original founders of Quantec in 1986, and today acts as Operations Manager for Quantec’s Canadian Operations. Woody oversees activities for 3D Borehole and surface TEM, and IP surveys and personally manages client relations.
Woody has a diploma in Geology and Geophysics from Cambrian College of Applied Arts and Technology.

Kevin Blackshaw: Titan Project Manager
Kevin has been with Quantec for over 11 years. In that time he has executed surveys extensively throughout Canada, United States, Mexico, and Ecuador. In his current position with Quantec, Kevin plays an integral role as Project Manager of the Titan 24 MT & DCIP Distributed Array system in Canada and oversees surveys that are conducted worldwide. Prior to this, he has also spent time as an operations manager and a senior field manager.
Kevin has a Diploma in Geological Engineering, Cambrian College of Applied Arts and Technology.

Roger Sharpe: General Manager & Senior Geophysicist
Prior to joining Quantec in the summer of 2006, Roger was a senior geophysicist at Multi-Phase Technologies, an environmental geophysical firm, and was chief geophysicist at Battle Mountain Gold. In addition to program planning, management, and data interpretation skills, Roger has experience in hardware and software manufacture and development. As General Manager of Quantec’s USA office, Roger is responsible for reporting, interpretation and client support. The focus is on ensuring data integrity, and delivering value to our clients by relating the geophysical programs and data to project geology and targeting goals.

Miles Rideout: Senior Geophysicist for South America
Miles has been with Quantec for 18 years and has overseen the development of the company’s South American operations, first in Chile, and now in Argentina where he is presently the General Manager. Since 1989, he has ensured Quantec's growth in the region, from one survey team at start to three South American offices. Since 1989 he has overseen and completed more than 400 projects in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile and Peru.
Miles has a B.Sc. in Geophysics, with honors from the University of Western Ontario in Canada.

Trent Retallick: Regional Manager Australia
Trent has been with Quantec for 7 years out of the last 10 years in exploration geophysics. He has been responsible for the execution of surveys throughout Australia, as well as in Fiji, India, Peru and Tanzania before becoming part of the Titan24 team and working in Canada, Botswana, Zambia, South Africa, Mongolia, Bulgaria and Portugal. He has a Bachelor of Science with a Geology Major from the University of Queensland.
